She was the daughter of Henderson Ambrose "Hence" and Mary Lee (Austell) Shelton and married John Houston Couch - 27 Jul 1919 - Franklin Co., Tennessee. Her obituary follows: Mrs. Pearl Johnson Couch of 300 North Anderson Street, Tullahoma, died September 19 at the home of her daughter, Mary Statum, at 429 East Lauderdale Street. She was 95 years old. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Hence and Mary Austell Shelton. Her husband, John Couch, died in 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Gold Star Mother. Services were last Friday at Tullahoma Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Jim Hodge, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Survivors in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Statum, are two other daughters, Mamie Nippers and Betty Wooten, both of Tullahoma; a sister, Mrs. Rilla Tucker, Decherd; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and five great-grandchildren.
