He married Elizabeth Jane Burton in 1839. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Jackson, Tennessee, United States in 1850 and Putnam, Tennessee, United States in 1860. He died on 17 November 1904, in Smith, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Smith, Tennessee, United States.
