Bio
After a lifetime of devotion to her family, Iris Pearl Reznicek, passed away on February 1, 2020. Iris was born on July 8, 1931 in Fulton, Mississippi, to Burt and Mandie Grissom. She was one of seven children. She met her husband Louis, after he returned from serving in the Navy in World War II. While raising her boys, she worked at Sear’s in the warehouse and billing departments. After retiring from Sear’s she worked in her garden at home. She loved to do crafts, making ceramics, dolls, and crocheting intricate patterns. She went to work for the City of Mesquite in the 70’s at the Senior Center teaching handcrafts and painting. She loved her boys and their families, and made her home open to all. Iris loved to cook and had many family gatherings at her home where many happy memories were made. She also loved to travel, and took her family with her on cruises and road trips as often as she could. She spent the last three years at Cambridge Court assisted living in Mesquite, where she made many new friends. Her family is grateful for the love and care she received there. She is survived by her boys, Glen (Ann) and Gary (Sherry). She was called Mamaw by her four grand- children, Mindy, Brian, Gary Ray, Brittany, and seven great grandchildren, Chase, Jayden, Phoenix, Addison, Brayden, Madeline, and Katelynn. She was predeceased by her sisters, Martha, Jimmie Nell, Norma Sue, Dorothy, and brother’s David, and Daniel. There will be a graveside service for Iris at 10:00 a.m., Friday morning, February 7, 2020 at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in the Garden of Faith with Rev. Jim Burt officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Laurel Oaks Funeral Home located at 12649 Lake June Rd., Mesquite, Texas 75180.
