Funeral services for Bernice H. Brummett, age 87 of Oakdale, Nebraska, will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden. She died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. Bernice Helen Brummett, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kloster) Schrad, was born May 31, 1927, at the family farm near Petersburg, Nebraska. She attended country school east of Petersburg. Bernice worked at Campbell's Soup in Fremont, Nebraska, until she moved to Arlington, Nebraska, where she worked at different cafes. She earned her Geriatric Aide license to working in nursing homes. From 1974 until 1981, Bernice worked at the Nursing Home in Clarkson, Nebraska. She was well known for her many years of taking care of the elderly in their homes until she was 75. Bernice loved to quilt, play solitaire, and watch Nebraska football. Her children took her to the Orange Bowl in 1995, when Nebraska won the National Championship. She canoed down the Niobrara River until her 80th birthday. Bernice had strong family ties, and could remember family history from many generations back. She was a former member of the Catholic Church in Petersburg. Bernice is survived by her children, Dean (Tina) Brummett of Red Cloud, Nebraska, Diane Lee of Potter, Nebraska, Cindy (Steve) Kraft of Neligh, Nebraska, Lyn Brummett of Oakdale, Nebraska, Les Brummett of Tombstone, Arizona; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Alfred of Elgin, Nebraska She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard; sisters, Lita, Esther, Ruth, and Lorella; and grandson, Tim Glenn.
