******************************************** Dorothy Weed Sorensen, 95 years, of Fremont, NE died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. She was born July 2, 1917 in Scotia, NE to Robert and Othelia Mitchell. She grew up in Scotia and was a graduate of Scotia Consolidated High School. Dorothy married Lloyd P. Weed on Dec. 13, 1936 at Scotia. They farmed and ranched in Cherry County before moving to Ainsworth, where they owned and operated a confectionary, and she also was employed at the Gambles store in Ainsworth. In 1969, they moved to Mesa, AZ, where Dorothy worked at J.C. Penney's and at local dress shop. Lloyd died on June 6, 1971 in Mesa. Dorothy married Oswald Sorensen on July 10, 1981. They made their home in Wood River, NE and spent most of the winters in Arizona. Oswald died in 1998. Dorothy moved to Fremont in 2000. She was an over 75 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Ainsworth, NE and had been attending the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. She was a member of BPO Does and the American Legion Auxiliary both at Ainsworth and belonged to 2 Bridge Clubs in Fremont. She is survived by son, Gary & wife, Katrina Weed of Maumelle, Arkansas; daughter, Carol & husband, Gary Schmidt of Fremont; sisters, Bonnie & husband, Bo Conner of Burwell, NE and June & husband, Warren Luce of Ravenna, NE; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; grandson, Rick Schmidt; 2 sisters, Thelma Dulitz & Lois Sidak; brother, Dale Mitchell; step-brother, Ernie Mitchell. Funeral service will be 2 PM on Wednesday, November 14 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Michael McGregor of First United Methodist Church in Fremont will officiate. Visitation on Wednesday from 11 AM to 2 PM with the family receiving friends from 1 PM to 2 PM all at the funeral home. Burial will be 1 PM, Thursday, at the Ainsworth Cemetery in Ainsworth, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Odyssey Hospice and to the Rick Schmidt Bergan Tuition Endowment. (mosermemorialchapels.com/obituary)
