Bio

June Luce, 90, of Ravenna died Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home in Ravenna. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Hazard Cemetery. Mrs. Luce was born July 23, 1922, in Greeley County, Neb., to Robert and Othelia (Keown) Mitchell. She married Raymond Tesmer on Aug. 10, 1943, at Paplin. Ray preceded her in death on June 16, 1983. She married Warren Luce on Jan. 7, 1989, at St. Gabriel's Church in Hazard. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Warren; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bob and Jean Tesmer of Hazard and Brad Tesmer of Durango, Colo.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Terry Moffett of Shelton, Bette and Steve Dennis of Kearney and Judy and Jim Hammond of Litchfield, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Bonnie Conner of Burwell. June was educated in Greeley County and graduated from Scotia High School. She received her normal training at Kearney State College and taught school in Howard County. June and Ray Tesmer lived in Dannevirke until moving to Hazard in 1953; Ray died in 1983. She married Warren Luce in 1989 and they lived in Ravenna. June was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was the postmaster in Hazard for many years. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Tesmer; a grandson, Brian Hammond; and two brothers and three sisters.
