The Rev. Max McCamley will officiate, with burial in Roselawn Memorial cemetery. The body lies in state at Gass Funeral Home until noon Wednesday, then from 1 to 2 p.m at the church. Mr. Bernt, who resided at 3109 18th street, died Sunday afternoon at Behlen Memorial hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1881, in Polk county, the son of John and Katherine Kebsbach Bernt, and received his schooling in Polk county. Mr. Bernt was married to Dollie Jerdon Nov. 26, 1902, in David City. They farmed eight miles north of Shelby in Polk county, retiring and moving to Columbus in 1956. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Chester (Edith) Wells, Mrs. P.W. (Velma) Elliott and Mrs. Art (Cleo) Mayberger; one granddaughter and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, William of Columbus and Julius of Shelby; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Smith of Columbus and Mrs. Adolph (Rose) Grossnicklaus, Osceola. He was preceded in death by his wife, May 24, 1967; one son, Lloyd of Columbus; parents, and one sister, Mrs. Clint (Millie) Ballou of Boise, Ida. The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the Methodist church.
