She received her education at a country school in Nuckolls County and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Pastor Spring. Flora left the Byron area as a young woman and worked in Nebraska, Ohio and also worked in California during the war years. She returned to the Byron and Deshler area after the war. In the early 1950's she worked at Reed Hospital in Deshler, and found great enjoyment in caring for many of the babies and their mothers. Flora was united in marriage to Alvin W. After their marriage, Flora, helped Alvin with the farm chores. She was a devoted and loving housewife and mother. When the boys were young, she was very active in the Cub Scouting program. They lived on their farm southeast of Deshler from 1953 until 1990 when she and Alvin moved to Deshler. Flora was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. She loved her family very much. Her love for children was very evident as her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and grandchildren loved to stay at her house.
