DESHLER, Neb. -- John R. Hofts, 88, passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, in Deshler. He was born May 5, 1921, in rural Byron. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Fern Hofts, of Deshler; five children, Stanley Hofts (Mary Jo), of Ruskin, Patty Wilson (Mike) and Julie Hofts, both of Lincoln, Janet Lienemann (Dan), of Sidney, and Cindy Hofts, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Lewis and Alfred Hofts, both of Byron. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Ahrendts Funeral Home, 315 First St., Deshler, NE 68340.
