Bio

Leonard Dean Janicek, 83, of Burwell, Nebraska died June 15, 2020 at his home. Leonard’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will have a private service. Leonard was born August 21, 1936 in Burwell, Nebraska to Frank and Bessie (Vancura) Janicek, Jr. He graduated from Burwell High School in 1954. Leonard married June Criss on November 18, 1956 in Burwell. In 1963 and 1964 they lived in Colorado. After returning to Burwell they lived on a farm for a short time before moving into Burwell. June died on September 15, 2014. Leonard enjoying playing cards, cribbage, fishing, hunting and listening to polka music. Leonard is survived by two daughters, Kathy McGinness of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tammy Janicek of Bryan, Texas. One granddaughter, April McGinness of Lincoln, Nebraska. One sister-in-law, Mary Lou Janicek of Burwell and nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two grandsons, Matthew McGinness as an infant and Jason McGinness. A son-in-law, Mark McGinness. Two brothers, George Janicek and Alvin and Betty Janicek and a sister, LaVerna and Darrell Simpson.
