Bio

Evelyn D. (Washburn) Lemke-Freeman, 89, of Sioux City died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Countryside Retirement Center following a lengthy illness. The body was cremated. There will be no service or visitation. Private family burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Lemke-Freeman was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School. She married Kenneth Lemke, who died in 1966. She married Stanley Freeman on July 17, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple moved to Honolulu and returned to Sioux City in 1985. He died Jan. 10, 1986, in Sioux City. She was employed as a teletype operator for Western Union. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
