Funeral services for Virgil E. Washburn, 54, 3311 Indiana avenue, who died here Wednesday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Rev. Stanley Ecklund officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Nelson-Berger funeral home in Morningside. Del Pierce, A. J. Kirwan, Eugene Motley, Robert Chilton, Robert Bojar and Daryl Johnson will serve as pallbearers. A lifetime Sioux City resident, Mr. Washburn suffered a heart attack at his residence Wednesday night and was taken to a hospital by the fire department inhalation squad. He was born here April 3, 1906. Mr. Washburn had been a hog salesman for Wagner, Garrison & Abbott livestock commission firm in Sioux City for 30 years. He married the former Marie Wold In Sioux City on December 6, 1925. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Robert V. of Sioux City, and Donald L. of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Axthlem of Sioux City; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Washburn of Sioux City; a brother, Arthur of Sioux City; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Claas and Mrs. Evelyn Lemke, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Laura Dow of Galesburg, Ill., and seven grandchildren.
