Bio

Graveside services for Dr. Virgil Kopecky, 53, of Bay City will be held at 3:30 p. m. Friday with Jose DeLeon Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, Blessing. Dr. Kopecky was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Dr. Loos' Hospital in Bay City and died Nov. 11, 1986, at South Texas Medical Branch University of Texas Hospital, Galveston, following a lengthy illness. A resident of Bay City for 48 years, he had a doctor of divinity degree and was a member of the Astara. Survivors include his children, Diana Hoffman, Adam Kopecky, Crystal Kopecky and David Kopecky, all of Bay City; three sisters, Lydia Gates of Bay City, Ollie Nedbalek of Houston and Helen Smith of Pineland; a brother, Gus Kopecky of Houston; stepmother, Bertha Kopecky of Bay City; and a grandchild, Jennifer Hoffman of Bay City. Pallbearers include his nephews and friends, Kenneth Smith, Gus Kopecky Jr., Burt Kopecky, Ronald Nedbalek, David Nedbalek and Pete Torres. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Vavrecka Kopecky and his father, V. L. Kopecky. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. The Daily Tribune , November, 1986
