Brown, 766 – 22 Avenue, Columbus, will be held 10:30 Wednesday at the Gass-Haney chapel with Rev. Lee Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Columbus Cemetery. Visiting hours are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born June 9, 1905 at Humphrey, Neb. to E.G. and Rosabelle (Phillips) Brown and attended Columbus schools. He married Pauline Egger January 11, 1924 in Glenwood Iowa, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1974. He was a lifetime resident of this area and a retired Union Pacific employee. He was a member of the National Guards; life member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club, former member of Columbus Volunteer Fire Department, an avid swimmer, having received his 100 mile certificate at the YMCA. He was a member of the Federated Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs. Emil (Beverly) Gloor, Carlisle, Iowa; Mrs. Norman (Marilyn) Hoge and Mrs. Lawrence (Elizabeth) Frese, Columbus; son Howard P. Brown, Columbus; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry C., Aurora, Colo., Ellis G., Omaha, Jay C., Alexandra, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Kluck, Columbus, Mrs. Willard (Helen) Dover, Lighthouse Point, Gla [sic], Ruth Grimes, Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Ralph, Carroll; a sister, Mrs. R.V. (Cora) Lisco.
