Brown, former Columbus resident, dies Ralph Ellis Brown, 64, Omaha, former Columbus resident, died Saturday night at St. Joseph hospital in Omaha after a long illness. Final rites will be conducted by the Rev. Arthur Detwiler at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gass Funeral chapel, and burial will be in Columbus cemetery. The body is now lying in state at the funeral home. The son of Ellis G. and Rose Belle Phillips Brown, he was born Dec. 4, 1900, at Humphrey. He attended the University of Nebraska two years. Mr. Brown was married to Ilo Mae Brown Aug. 25, 1925, at Council Bluffs. They had resided the past 35 years in Omaha, where he was station auditor for Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Brown was a member of the Trans-Missouri Passenger club. He is survived by his wife; one son, Richard W. of Omaha, two daughters, Mrs. A.L. (Eileen) Meyer of Omaha and Mrs. Guy L. (Diane) Craig of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, Howard Brown of Columbus, Harry of Denver, Carroll of Dallas, Tex., Jay of Alexandria, Va., and Ellis of Omaha; and four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Kluck of Richland, Mrs. Lowell (Ruth) Grimes of Columbus, Mrs. R.Y. (Cora) Lisco of Aurora, Colo., and Mr. W.D. (Helen) Dover of Pompano Beach, Calif. A son, Ralph, jr., his parents and a brother, George, preceded him in death.
