Next to Wencel is a marker for "Evelyn P Bruha Beloved Wife and Mother born Dec. 3, 1930" but no death date on her memorial marker. =========== Son of Wencel and Emma (Hulinsky) Bruha. He went to school in Valley County. He helped out on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army on March 22, 1945, serving during World War II in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 28, 1946. He married Evelyn P. Penas in 1949 at Ord. The couple lived on a farm west of Ord and he later farmed in Schuyler and Stromsburg. The family moved to Grand Island in 1959 where he worked at several service stations. He retired from Conoco Station in 1990. Survived by wife, sons LaVerne and Myron Bruha, daughters, Elaine and Arlene, his mother, five brothers, Frank, Herb, Edward, Larry, and Gary and four sisters, Emily Jacobsen, Evelyn Osentowski, Alice Woitalewiz and Katherine Server. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
