Frank E. Bruha, 86, of Scotia passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, at his home in Scotia. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Doug Durre will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Military Honors will be presented by the Reuben Beck American Legion Post #150 of Scotia.. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Frank was born August 3, 1928, in rural Valley County, Nebraska to Wencel and Emma (Hulinsky) Bruha. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools through the 8th grade. Frank served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed in Germany for 14 months in the 321st Battalion. On October 1, 1953, Frank was united in marriage to Amelia Penas. The couple lived on a farm in Valley County before moving to Madison for a short time. They settled in Scotia where they raised their family of four children. Frank was a very hard working husband, Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He worked for the Rodeo Telephone Company of Burwell which was purchased by Nebraska Central Telephone. He retired in 1989. Frank was a former Mayor of Scotia. His memberships included the Reuben Beck American Legion Post #150; and ZCBJ Western Fraternal Lodge #112. He proudly served on the Scotia Fire and Rescue Department for over 50 years. Frank’s greatest joys were his family; he loved having all of them visit. The family meals, jokes, card playing and laughter will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Amelia of Scotia; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Nancy Bruha of Scotia; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret and Don Moudry of Ord, Janice and Duane Miller of Windsor, Colorado and Carol Mostek of St. Paul; seven grandchildren, Jason (Bri) Moudry, Ryan (Ashlee Martin) Moudry, Chad (Stormy) Miller, Kyle (Jodie) Miller, Carmen and Mason Mostek, and Shelley Bruha; seven great-grandchildren, Allie, Grady and Chance Moudry, Shannon, Chevelle and Cade Miller and Amelia Miller; four brothers and six sisters-in-law, Herb and Sandy Bruha of Burwell, Gary and Eileen Bruha of Ord, Larry and Ione Bruha of Loup City, Ed and Jean Bruha of Comstock, Evelyn Bruha of Grand Island and Lillian Kvetensky of Ralston; three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Evelyn and LaVerne Osentowski of Ord, Katie Server of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Alice and Norman Woitalewicz of Loup City; and Paul Jacobsen of Merna; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Justin Miller; two brothers, Albert and Wencel Bruha; and a sister, Emily Jacobsen.
