Bio

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Mayme Helt, 70, 1723 Summit St., who died Monday afternoon at a hospital. The Rev. Richard Gift, pastor of the Melbourne United Brethren Church of Merrill, Iowa, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Vernon Helt, Darvin Hartman, and Donald, Lester, Howard and Richard Kovarna. Mrs. Helt, the former Mayme Kovarna, was born April 12, 1894, in Liberty Township of Plymouth County and moved to Sioux City in 1923. She was married to Merton Helt on Nov. 23, 1933 in Sioux City. He died April 23, 1963. She was a beauty shop operator. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Annie Flannery and Mrs. Helen Hartman, both of Sioux City, and five brothers, James, John, Adolph, George and Harry Kovarna, all of Liberty Township.
