Funeral services for Emily Swinky Herrin, 52, of Sugarland will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. W. E. Dugger officiating. Burial to follow at Hawley Cemetery. Mrs. Herrin was born August 11, 1937 in Blessing to John Joe and Emilia Esternak Swinky, and died March 9, 1990 at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. She was a Methodist and former resident of Houston living in Sugarland for the past six years. Survivors include husband Bill Herrin of Sugarland; son and daughter-in-law, Scott Lamar and Jonnie Herrin of Sugarland; sisters, Anna Mae Hurta and Wilma Vavra, both of El Maton, Frances Ann Dusek of East Bernard, Margaret Fehmel of Bay City, Geraldine Strelec of Edna, Pat Scott of Houston, and Doris Johs of Blessing; brothers Edward Swinky of Bay City and Johnny Swinky of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughters Bobbie Jo, Emily and Tracy Herrin of Sugarland; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Green of Blessing; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bennie Swinky and sister Louise Boling. Pallbearers are Lance and Chris Scott, Donnie Ray Knebel, Edwin Hurta Jr., Marvin Hurta and Brannon Dusek. Honorary pallbearers are Alton and Milton Vavra Jr., Randall Dusek, Ronnie and Johnnie Knebel, Daryl and Eddie Swinky, Joe Johs III, Lawrence Hurta and Edwin Strelec, Jr. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
