Bio
Geraldine Swinky Strelec, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the age of 70. She was born in Blessing, Texas on October 28, 1944, to the late John Joe Swinky and Emily Esterak Swinky. Geraldine was a Housewife, who took care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, who will be truly missed. Geraldine is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edwin John Strelec of Edna; daughter, Lisa Strelec Wendel and her husband Gerald of El Maton; son, Sonny Strelec and his wife Brenda of Edna; sisters, Wilma Vavra, Frances Ann Dusek and her husband Ray, Margaret Fehmel, Doris Johs and her husband Sonny; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wendel and his wife Marissa, Kyle Wendel, Jack Strelec, MaKenna Strelec; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Marleigh and Maddox Wendel. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Annie Mae Hurta, Louise Knebel Boling, Emily Herrin and Patsy Scott; brothers, Edward Swinky, Johnny Swinky and Benny Swinky. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 10 a.m., in the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna, Texas. Burial to follow at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado, Texas, with the Reverend Peter Yeboah-Amanfo will officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wendel, Kyle Wendel, Jack Strelec, Alton Vavra, Ray Dusek and Ralph Petersen. Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, Texas. 361-782-2221.
