Bio

John W. Slovacek, 79, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, August 9, 2019. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. John was born on September 29, 1939, in Ennis, Texas, to the late Louis and Frances (Belha) Slovacek. John grew up in Ennis and attended St. John Catholic School. On June 22, 1963, he married Anna Dobecka and they made their home in Ennis. John served his country proudly in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. John was a Master Electrician and worked for Alford Refrigeration, Texas Instruments, and owned J & A Electric from 1970 until 1985 when he retired. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church; he was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW and a 50-year member of KJT. John enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, collecting guns, deep-sea fishing, and above all, spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Joe Slovacek and Louis Slovacek; and sisters, Georgie Kozlovsky and Emily Marusek. Survivors include his wife of over 56 years, Anna Slovacek; sons, Phillip Slovacek, and Timothy Slovacek and his wife, Stacey; daughter, Julie Slovacek-Peterson and her husband, Scott; grandchildren: Kaley Almanza, Ashley Slovacek, James Peterson, Sarayna Peterson, and London Peterson; great-grandchildren: Dylan Almanza, Mia Almanza, and Rowen Peterson; brother, Al Slovacek; sisters: Margie Kozlovsky and Mary Foitek; along with a host of extended family and friends.
