Daughter of James and Franziska (Watawa) Coufal. Married Martin Prokes on June 6, 1877at Fremont, Nebr. by a County Judge. ''''''''''' The Omaha Daily Bee (Omaha, Nebr.), October 15, 1910, p. 4, col. 2 SCHUYLER, Neb., Oct. 14 – (Special) – Mrs. Barbara Prokes, a pioneer of Colfax county, died at the home of her son Wednesday afternoon after an illness lasting for many months, and was buried Friday at the Schuyler cemetery. She leaves five children. Her husband was killed in a runaway accident on December 24, 1889, while coming home from town bringing Christmas presents for the family.
