Bio
Kathy Gerla of El Campo died Sept. 19, 2008, at the age of 53. She was born on April 23, 1955, in El Campo to Edwin A. Sr. and Lucille Matejek Kocian. She was employed at Commercial State Bank in the mortgage dept. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ray Gerla; daughters, Ashley and Tracy Gerla; mother, Lucille Kocian, all of El Campo; sisters, Joyce Teel of Houston, Linda Polasek of Richmond, Joan Robertson of Richmond, and Nancy Cochran of El Campo; and brother, Ed Kocian of La Grange. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church with the parish wake service being held at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue at Triska Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Shawn Teel, Jon Kocian, Jason Polasek, Jeremy Polasek, Matt Robertson, Jack Cochran, Rick Gerla and Jeffrey Gerla. Honorary bearers are Wayne Thibodeaux, Will Ellison, Mitch Revelle, and Roger Zbranek. Memorial donations in memory of Kathy Gerla may be made to the Ashley and Tracy Gerla Scholarship Fund.
