The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), March 3, 1960, p. 2, col. 5 & 6 Rites Conducted For Brainard Resident Funeral services were conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Brainard, on Feb. 17, for Mrs. Mary Tranda, 99, who died at the David City Hospital, Feb. 14. The Rev. Charles Rada officiated at the services. Members of the Rosary Society attended in a body and also said the Rosary at the Holesovsky Funeral Home on Tuesday. Pallbearers were Frank Dufek, Joseph Rejda, Frank Rejda, Charles Dolezal, Frank Dus, all of Brainard and George Kanger of Omaha. Burial was in the Brainard Cemetery. Mrs. Tranda, the daughter of Frank and Frantiska Blaha Navratil, was born Nov. 8, 1860, in Czechoslovakia. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was married to Charles Tranda and four children were born to them. Mrs. Tranda lived in Montana and North Dakota and on a farm in the Brainard vicinity moving to Brainard in 1936. Since 1955 she has resided at the Gray Rest Home in David City. She is survived by two sons, Hubert and Louis Tranda, both of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1913, and by a son, Frank and a daughter, Hedvika.
