Olive Hicks Brinkerhoff Poulsen passed away peacefully on Thursday morning March 13, 2003, of complications due to cancer. She was born March 5, 1920, in Joseph, Utah, to Archibald and Beulah Hicks. She married William Varsal Brinkerhoff on her sixteenth birthday, March 5, 1936. He died November 2, 1989. She married Earl A. Poulsen, February 23, 1990. A devoted wife and mother, she loved her family and was loved by all who knew her. She was a charitable person, a helping hand and friend to all. Her many acts of kindness will be long remembered. She retired from Sears and Co. after 25 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by a son William Scott Brinkerhoff; her parents; two brothers, John and Robert Hicks. She is survived by her husband, Earl; Step-son, Ken Poulsen; sons, Sterling (Elaine) Brinkerhoff and Brent Brinkerhoff; daughters, Patricia (Allen) Smith and Janet (Stanley) Wade; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brother Max (Joyce) Hicks; two sisters, LaVeen Orrick and Dorothy Bridges; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grant Stake Center, 3151 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and relatives may call Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment: Redwood Road Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road.
