Alice Marie Rogers, 90, of Ord was called to her Heavenly reward on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Jim Heithoff will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ord Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary at 7. Alice Marie was born Dec. 10, 1928, at Ord to Frank and Martha (Karty) Beran. She was raised in Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1946. Alice taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the Sandhills for a short time prior to her marriage. Alice was united in marriage to Carson H. Rogers on Dec. 30, 1950, at Ord. The couple farmed and raised livestock and were active members of the community in Valley County for more than 60 years. Alice enjoyed people and socializing and was a dedicated volunteer as a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Saint Anne’s Study Group, Ord Does, Suburbanites Extension Club, Valley County Health System Hospital Auxiliary and the Library Board. Alice served as a Brownie and 4-H Leader and was active in the Relay for Life and National Pork Producers Organization. For many years, Alice visited the nursing home as part of a weekly Rosary group. She and Carson were also part of a longtime Neighborhood Card Club. Alice enjoyed baking, sewing, (cleaning not so much), travel and writing. She liked to keep up with current events and was not happy when the Omaha World-Herald was no longer delivered to Ord. She took great joy in attending many of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events, not wanting to miss the chance to cheer on the Ord Chants! With her son Roger Jay, she was an avid Nebraska football fan. Her family will miss her homemade chocolate sauce, her unwavering support (and occasional scolding), and her sincere interest in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives. Alice will be looking down from Heaven upon three new great-grandchildren who are joining the family very soon. Alice would want us to remember that she considered herself very blessed to have so many friends and she is grateful for your love. Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell Rogers, Ron and Lori Rogers and Roger Jay Rogers, all of Ord; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Roxann and Dean Meyer and Rhonda and Steve Stratman, all of Omaha, and Regina and Patrick Edwards of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Rollie and Marsha Beran of Yankton, S.D., Dick Beran of Ord and Don Beran of Salina, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carson, who passed away on May 26, 2005; two grandchildren, Jordan Rogers and Emily Stratman; an infant brother; two brothers, V.J. and Frank Beran; and two sisters-in-law, Scotty Beran and Pat Beran.
