Obituary of Philomena (Buddecke) Hilger Philomena Hilger, daughter of Herman and Elizabeth Zwingman Buddecke, was born at St. Libory, NE, Nov. 19, 1893, and died at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, April 9, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 20 days. She grew up in the Raeville Community, and on Feb. 6, 1923, was united in marriage with Harry Hilger. This couple farmed at David City for a number of eyars after which they moved to Elgin where he was engaged in custom farming. After the death of her husband on Dec. 28, 1959, Mrs. Hilger continued to live at Elgin until moving to Omaha where for the past 13 years she was housekeeper at the rectory of The Church of The Assumption. Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Joe (Elizabeth) Havlovic of Falls City, Mrs. Willard (Eunice) Klintworth of Ralston, Mrs. Leroy (Elaine) Spieker of Fremont, and Mrs. Clarence (Evelyn) Pelster of Elgin; four sons, Melvin of Milwaukee, Wisc., Kenneth, James and Henry all of Omaha; 31 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; one sister: Catherine Buddecke of San Francisco; one brother: Herman Buddecke of Tilden; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Richard Harrison, three sisters: Anna and Christiana Buddecke, and Veronica Pelster, and four brothers: William, Anton, John, and Henry Buddecke. The funeral was conducted at 10:30am Wednesday, April 12, from St. Boniface Church in Elgin with the Rev. Albert Krejci, Pastor of The Church of The Assumption in Omaha officiating. Interment was made in St. Boniface Cemetery with David, Michael, Mark and Steve Hilger, Daniel Spieker, Robert Harrison, and David and Gerald Pelster serving as casket bearers.
