Bio

In Clifford's World War II Bonus Application, he stated that he was born in Des Moines, Iowa. According to that application Clifford was in Company E of the 11th Infantry of the United States Army. He enlisted on January 22, 1943, at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, Iowa, and he was discharged on January 30, 1946. --------------- Obituary From "The Ottumwa Courier," February 14, 1996: Clifford Curry OTTUMWA - Clifford E. "Bucky" Curry, 82, of 2046 Mable St. died at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 1996, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Wapello County [sic]. He married Zelda Florence Dennison on Nov. 19, 1971. She died on March 15, 1995. A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he was an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1973. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a life member of Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 of the VFW and a member of O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 of the American Legion. He is survived by five daughters, Roma Smith, Debbie Lapsey, and Patricia Bird of Ottumwa. Eva Hickman of Davenport and Christine Abbas of Rockford, Ill., six sons, George Dennison of California, Carl Dennison of Arkansas, Jim and Robert Dennison of Ottumwa, Roger Dennison of Missouri and Mark Dennison of New Sharon; 36 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Dennis Chet Stoher. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Rimmer; and a brother, Chet Stoher. The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Shaul Cemetery, the Rev. Donald G. Hunt of the Pennsylvania Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 of the VFW and O B. Nelson Post No. 3 of the American Legion, who will also serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home; the family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals Cancer Research Center.
