Charlotte Observer, The (NC) - October 26, 2002 Deceased Name: B. Jack Johnson Mecklenburg NC United States Mr. B. Jack Johnson, 79, of Charlotte, died Friday, October 25, 2002 at Carolinas Medical Center, Main. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2002 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel with the Reverends Bobby Blanton, Landon Horton and Buddy Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson served in World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Shriner's and Lake Norman Baptist Church where he was active in the Adult II Sunday School Class. Jack retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He was an avid fisherman and Big Game Hunter. Jack was the best husband and father in the world. His greatest joys were his home life and trips with his family who will sorely miss him. He has been welcomed into his home in Heaven. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Alma Harris Johnson of Charlotte; one son, Douglas and his wife, Charlotte, of Charlotte; one daughter, Judy 'Lady' Johnson and Judith Leahy of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren, Amy and Elizabeth Johnson; sister, Lena Mae Hill of Silsbee, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorials may be made to Lake Norman Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7921 Sam Furr Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Arrangements by McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service, Charlotte Chapel.
