Lyle E. Juett, 90, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Lancaster Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, with Pastor Adam Snoberger officiating. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lyle was born Dec. 4, 1928, at Giltner, the son of Burt P. and Fay L. (Nelson) Juett. He grew up in Giltner and Phillips, attending Phillips School. In 1946 he joined the United States Army and served until 1948, then joined the United States Navy in 1951, serving until his honorable discharge in 1952. After his years of service he moved to Grand Island and worked as a carpenter for 20 years, then drove semi-trucks for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Ethel L. Vinecore in 1953 at Grand Island. To this union, two children were born: Steve and Kathy. Ethel died Aug. 10, 1990. On Sept. 14, 1991, Lyle married Dorothy L. Hoffman at Grand Island. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and a past member of the Eagles. Lyle enjoyed the outdoors and pheasant hunting. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Charlotte Juett of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Harders of Boelus; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Chuck and Sue Hoffman of Grand Island; stepdaughter, Shirley Thompson of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, 10 stepgreat-grandchildren, six stepgreat-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and James Marz of Frederic, Wis. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ethel; three sisters, Darlene Loftus, Loretta Ballard, Mary Lou Leymaster; two brothers, Wilbur Juett and Bob Nelson; one stepson, Donald Hoffman; one grandchild, Karry Harders.
