Bio
William Patrick (Bill) Phillips of Sealy, formerly of Columbus, passed away on October 12, 2006, at age 84. He was born September 18, 1922, in San Antonio, to the late Robert L. and Mary Eiseman Phillips. He was owner and operator of a retail gas business in Columbus. Bill served in the Army Air Force from 1941-1946 as Staff Sergeant in the 321st Bomb Squadron 90th Group. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, National Rifle Assoc. and Texas State Rifle Assoc. Survivors are: his wife of 63 years, Lillian Hollan Phillips of Sealy, daughter Diane Sillavan and husband Russell of Sealy; granddaughter Rebecca Janish and husband David of Sealy; grandson Russell Sillavan, Jr. of Pattison, Tx. great-grandchildren, Jennifer Sillavan, Joshua Hartwick and Jennifer Janish.; brother Harry L. Phillips and wife Peaches of Cuero; sister Pauline Fontenot of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert L. Phillips, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum with Mr. David Janish officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron cemetery near Yoakum. Family visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2006, from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. There will be a rosary at 7:30 PM Memorial contributions may be given to Hebron Cemetery, Hebron Baptist Church or MD Anderson Cancer center.
