Bio
Funeral services for Inez Wigley, 91, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Wadley's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Barr McConathy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Wigley was born Dec. 11, 1915, to Oscar Carl and Francis Matilda "Fannie" Brush in Albany, Texas. She died Monday, May 21, at the Lexington Nursing Home. Preceded in death by her husbands: Clayton Pope and Joseph Wigley; daughter: Jo Pope Carr; brothers: Pender Brush, Weaver Brush & Cleo Brush; and sisters: Bertha Brush Hobson, Letha Brush Adair, Lennie Brush Stricklan and Margaret Brush. Mrs. Wigley lived in Purcell since 1944, coming from Thackerville where she was raised and graduated from school. She married Clayton Pope on Oct. 26, 1930, in Tishomingo. She then married Joseph Wigley Aug. 17, 1946, in Purcell. She was a waitress and seamstress and enjoyed sewing, cooking for family and caring for her birds. Survivors include her son, Delbert Pope and wife Phyllis of Purcell; sisters, Odessa "Dessie" Stricklan of Marietta and Lorene Mitchusson of Thackerville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
