Weaver mostly did ranching work. His usual attire was a battered cowboy hot, boots, jeans, and a long-sleeved shirt with a vest. He worked for Watt Matthews and other ranchers. His enlistment into World War I, on June 5, 1918, was in Love County, Oklahoma, when he was twenty-one. A description on the draft card has "gray eyes and dark hair". Weaver and Mable attended the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian church, and Weaver was a member of the American Legion.
