Charles Allen Machacek, 88, of North Bend, Nebraska, (formerly of Leigh, Nebraska) died Monday, November 26, 2018, at Birchwood Manor in North Bend. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30, at 10:30 AM, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson with Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Interment will be in Clarkson National Cemetery with military honors by The American Legion Sucha Post 302 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM and continue on Friday from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the church. Charles Machacek was born March 7, 1930, in Stanton County, Nebraska, to Frank Sr. and Hedvicka (Janousek) Machacek. He grew up in Stanton County, attending Stanton County District 42 School. Charles worked on the family farm before entering the United States Army on January 24, 1952, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 23, 1953. On April 29, 1954, Charles was united in marriage to Marylin Pacas at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Charles farmed in the Leigh area for a few years before going to work for the Leigh Co-op which became Maple Valley Co-op. Charles did fuel delivery for several years for the Co-op. Charles was a volunteer fireman and part time police officer for the village of Leigh for a number of years. Charles is survived by: Wife – Marylin Machacek of North Bend, NE Son – Rick (Barb) Machacek of Leigh, NE Son – Randy Machacek of St. Peters, MO Granddaughter – Jennifer (Travis) Dicke of Creston, NE Granddaughter – Ashley Machacek of Leigh, NE Great Grandchildren – Jaycee Schomberg, Paisley Dicke, and Karter Dicke Charles was preceded in death by: Parents – Frank Sr. and Hedvicka Machacek Son – Roger Machacek Daughter-in-law – Kim Machacek Sisters – Helen Jedlicka and Adella Srb Brothers – Ed, Emil, and Frank Jr. Machacek
