Bio
Mary Alice Christian, 70, passed away on Nov. 8, 2018 at her residence in Big Spring, Texas. Memorial Service will be at 4:00 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel. A lifelong resident of Texas, she was born on July 4, 1948, to Claud E., and Ruby Lee (Langley) Collins in Knox City, Texas. She attended schools in Knox City and O’Brien and was a lifelong member of the Knox City Four Square Church. She met Raymond Wesley Christian while working as a waitress in Knox City. The couple married on Aug. 19, 1967 in Pecos, Texas. After marriage, the two lived in various places in Texas, including Runge, Woodson and Ackerly before settling in Big Spring in 1995. Mary often said she lived the perfect life, being a wife and mother to five children. After her children were grown, she worked as a cook at the café in Ackerly. After retiring from work and moving to Big Spring, she spent her time reading, fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud E. and Ruby Lee Collins; her husband, Raymond Wesley Christian in 2016; four sisters: Etta Louise Burt, Betty Ann Runnels, Diane Calvert and Janice Elain Clark; two brothers: Jerry Bob Johnson and Phillip Michael Collins. She is survived by her three sisters; Nancy and the late Darrell Ashley of Big Spring, Claudie (Robby) Anderson of Haskell, Texas, Cynthia (Calvin) Cole of West Columbia, Texas and one brother, Sonny (Susie) Adams of Lubbock; daughters: Patricia (Tommy) Wells of Homer, Alaska; Amanda Christian and her partner, David Fort, of Big Spring, Cynthia (Ruby) Christian, Merri Etta (Junior) Rodriquez; and a son, Claud (Maggie) Christian. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, including Whitney (Jeremy) Rios of Big Spring, Tommy Wells Jr. of Ranger, Texas, Kayme Brooke (Tanner) Fountain of Big Spring, Bobby Wells of Big Spring, Jennifer Lopez, Jennie Lopez and Gilbert Lopez Jr., all of Big Spring, Andrea Silva of Houston, Destiny Christian of Odessa, Texas, Courtny Christian of Springfield, MO., Des’Rae (Dizzy) Christian, Zyneka Christian and Veronica Christian, all of Big Spring, and Taylor Christian and Marissa Rodriguez, both of Big Spring, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
