Ray was born March 30, 1927, on the farm near Dwight, the son of Charles and Mary (Ruzicka) Houdek. Ray was a farmer his entire life. On June 12, 1951, he was united in marriage to Adeline Benes at St. Joseph's Church in Agnew. To this union they were blessed with 10 children.
