Fort Bend Herald, October 16, 2018: Marvin Milton Kocurek, 86, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away in his sleep in College Station, Texas October 12th, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Morton Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas, with Bro. Ben Kruse officiating. Marvin was born January 31, 1932 in Rosenberg. Texas. He was the second of six children of William and Della (Naivar) Kocurek. He was confirmed in Rosenberg Brethren Church and graduated from Lamar High School where he participated in Ag Projects. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Early in his life he owned Rosenberg businesses, Mustang Fence Company and Marvin's Dairyland, before moving to the Territory of Alaska to pursue his avid interest in record trophy hunting and fishing adventures. Marvin was one of the early Alaska Pioneers and participated in its Statehood and early growth as a successful developer. Later in his life, he spent many winters in Texas restoring his grandparents' home in Snook. He is survived by his two sons and families, Eric and Jennifer Kocurek and granddaughter, Lilly Anne; Omar Kocurek and wife, Ki Ja Han; sisters, Frances Kocurek Wheat, Jane Kocurek Hill, Alice Kocurek; brother in-law, Jon Brooks; and sister in-law, Mary Jane Kocurek; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Della Kocurek; wife, Esther Kocurek; brother, William Kocurek; sister, Joyce Brooks; and brother in-law, Gene Wheat.
