Bio
The year of birth on her death certificate is incorrect. It should be 1877. Her parents married in 1875. Her age was recorded as 3 in their 1880 household. She first married "Orelien Fruger" on 16 Jan 1894 in Liberty County, Texas. This marriage ended in divorce. They were the parents of two children, Pete and Lizzie Fregia, both of whom died before the 1910 census. Secondly, she married Urisan "Luke" Fontnow/Fontenot on 30 May 1901 in Liberty County, Texas. They were the parents of four sons, Thomas, Isaac, William, and George Fontnow/Fontenot. Obituary published in The Liberty Vindicator; Liberty, Liberty County, Texas: Lifelong Resident of Liberty Buried Thursday Graveside services were held in Fregia Cemetery January 10 at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Rachel Fontenot, 75, with Rev. Chester Steele, pastor of Liberty First Methodist Church, officiating. A life long resident of Liberty, Mrs. Fontenot died at the home of her son, Tom Fontenot of Liberty, January 9. Survivors include four sons, Tom and George Fontenot of Liberty; William Fontenot, Hardin and Ike Fontenot, Hull; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Fregia and Mrs. John Nugent, both of Liberty; three brothers, Leo and Terrance Fregia, both of Hardin and Eli Fregia, Hull; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements were by Pace-Stancil of Liberty.
