Pioneer Woman is Buried at Oakwood Mrs. Viola A. Roberson, wife of "Uncle Alex" Roberson, a citizen of Comanche for nearly sixty years, died at their home just east of Comanche on the Fort Worth Highway Friday May 25 following several years of illness, the last four months of which she had been confined to her bed. Funeral services were held at Oakwood Cemetery Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock with Rev. R. L. Smallwood, assisted by Rev. Len Dalton officiating. Pall bearers were her grandsons: Cyril Roberson, Doyle Roberson, Veston, Grady and Lester McDonald and Elmer Isham. Viola A. Lane was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, August 4, 1858. She was the daughter of R. A. and Elizabeth Williams Lane. She was married near Comanche, May 7, 1874 to J. A. Roberson. They settled a farm about a mile east of Comanche and lived there continuously, although the house has been moved two or three different times in an effort to keep it on the public road. Uncle Alex and Aunt Viola were two of the best known citizens of this section. For years Uncle Alex has sold vegetables from their truck farm to nearly every resident in Comanche. Mrs. Roberson was converted in early life and united with the Baptist Church, being a member at Robersonville at the time of her death. In addition to Uncle Alex, Mrs. Roberson is survived by five children. They are Dan F. Roberson, Mrs. J. D. (Nettie) Isham, Mrs. Sherwood (Essie) McDonald, and A. Roberson. Two children died in infancy. She is also survived by a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
