ANNE AGNES (SRUBAR) MEYER, 94, departed this world to join Jesus and all the saints on September 14, 2018. Born to Anna Andel Srubar and Louis J. Srubar in East Bernard, Texas on January 13, 1924, Anne grew up on a farm with eight brothers and sisters. As a young woman she helped around the farm and was an excellent student. Following WWII, Anne moved to Houston to go to business school, where she met Garlin Arthur Meyer. It was love at first sight and they married on February 16, 1947. She was a devoted wife, mother to eight children, grandmother to 13 and great grandmother to 18. Anne and her family were founding members and dedicated parishioners of Saint Augustine Catholic Church. Anne enjoyed her grandchildren, rooting on the Astros, reading, painting, singing, sewing, and making crochet angels and sock monkeys. Anne was superseded in death by her husband Garlin and their oldest daughter Cynthia Sitton. She is survived by her sons Michael, David, Steven, Glenn and Chris Meyer; daughters, Susan Stone and Mary Johnson; and their spouses and their children. In addition, she is survived by her brother Bill Srubar, sister Matilda Stavinoha and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne will be remembered as a special woman who filled our lives with love and leaves us with fond memories and respect for the importance of God and family. She asked little for herself, always putting her family and others first. She truly left the world a better place than when she arrived. A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Houston on October 12 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Anne would want you to do a kind act for another.
