Suggested edit: Only daughter of Joannes Hubenak and second wife, Johanna Sykora (1863-Before 1920). - Contributor: F. Gentry (49203724) • [email protected] On 21 April 1910, Emilie (as her name was spelled at the time) was enumerated with her Mother and siblings in Fayette County. They may have been in or near the town of Fayetteville which was written on the sheet as the name of the incorporated place and then had a line drawn through it. Emily was seven years of age. Her brother Adolph was six. Her mother Johanna Hubenak was 50, a widow who had been married for six years. Johanna had had two children and both were alive. She had been born in Austria-Bohemia, as had both of her parents. She said she immigrated in 1889 and that she spoke Bohemian. She was a farmer and her farm was rented, not owned. Also in the household were her step children: Annie, 21; Frank, 20; Tonnie, 17; Mary, 16; and Sophie, 12. It is assumed that Johanna was probably dead by 1920 because both of her children, Emily and Adolph, were living with their half-sister Annie and her husband Joe John Sykora in McLennan County that year. Emily was listed as Millie. Emily's father was John Hubenak. When enumerated on 18 June 1900 in Fayette County, he said he was born June 1854 in Bohemia, had been married 20 years, immigrated in 1881, and farmed on rented land. His wife Anna [Jurina] was born Nov 1854 in Bohemia, had been married 20 years, immigrated in 1881, had had seven children and five were still alive. The same five older children later enumerated in 1910 were listed. Anna died in 1901 and John married Mrs. Johanna Kubicek on 30 Nov 1901. Just two years prior, Miss Johanna Sykora had married John Kubicek on 14 Feb 1899. They are presumed to be the same person. On 29 Oct 1923, Emily married Andrew Louis Sykora in the Catholic Church in West. He was a brother of Joe John Sykora who married Emily's half-sister Annie. They had three children and were all still together on 12 April 1940 when they were enumerated in Waco. Andrew was working as a sales clerk in a retail grocery store. They must have divorced because on 9 Aug 1948 Emily married Wallace Alfred Fogle. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. His first wife had died in 1936. Andrew Sykora married Mary Eugenia Franklin on 10 April 1957. It appears to have been a first marriage for her. -- Joe David
