Bio

Don E. Devey Don Earl Devey, 67, died Oct. 13, 1990, at his home in Alpine, Utah. He was born July 2, 1923 in Alpine a son of Earl and Velma Strong Devey. He married Lorna Jewel Bateman May 14, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended school in Alpine and American Fork. He also attended BYU and loved BYU sports. He was a veteran of World War II, 3rd Marine Division at Guam and two Ilima and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked as a miner, a welder, and at Geneva Steel. He owned a construction business with his brother for 30 years. He also ran guards at Oremet in Albany, Oregon. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest in the Alpine Fifth Ward. He also served as an assistant financial clerk. He enjoyed traveling, camping and hunting. Survived by his wife of Alpine, two sons and two daughters: Don Lee, Kelly Dean, Katherine Chatfield, and Kim Kearl, all of Alpine. 18 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Randolph M. Davis Jr., Marilyn D. Turner, all of Alpine; Wallace S., Murray; Afton Burgess, Lehi. Preceded in death by a brother, Carlos. Funeral services were Tuesday in the Alpine Stake Center. Burial was in the Alpine Cemetery with military rites by VFW, District 4.
