John Peter Hansen, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, and uncle 82, passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2006 at his home after a long illness. John was born at home in Lehi on February 23, 1924 to Svend Peter and Della Florence Hallsey Hansen. He was the youngest of six children. John grew up in Lehi herding cattle and farming with his father and brothers and a special cousin, Russell Hansen. He attended schools in Lehi. John's first job was working at McCord's Gas Station in Lehi. He met his sweetheart, Marjorie Mae Gaisford at the Lehi Skating Rink and dated her until they married on May 14, 1941 in Heber City, Utah. After he married he went to work at the mines in Mercer for a while until he started working at Geneva Steel. He started at Geneva before they started operations while it was under construction and then started working in the transportation department as a switchman. He later advanced to a conductor. John retired after 38 continuous years of service. John lived life to the fullest. He loved to hunt and fish. He taught his family to love nature. Whenever he had time off work, he was traveling somewhere on some adventure. Before John retired he planned for his golden years by purchasing a home in Yuma, Arizona. John loved to go to Yuma in the wintertime. John always had someone in his family with him and never went anywhere without his lovely wife by his side. John was a good provider for his family. He will be remembered as being a kind, helpful, honest, hard worker who loved his wife and family. John is survived by his wife, four children J. Gary (Nancy) of Pleasant Grove, Larry L.
