Obit was located in the "North Platte Telegraph" Jan 27, 1979, page #13, and reads as follows: "Sophia Long -- A longtime resident of North Platte community, Sophia N. Long, 88, died Thursday in a North Platte nursing home. She was born Jan. 7, 1891, at Pueblo, Colo. Mrs. Long came to North Platte at the age of eight with her parents and lived on a farm four miles northeast of North Platte. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Royal Neighbors of America. Survivors include two sons, Charles F. of Homewood, Ill., and Robert W. of North Platte; one sister, Clara (Mrs. William) Eshleman of North Platte; three brother, Harry, Otto and Ed Steel, all of North Platte; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Adams and Swanson Chapel with Pastor G. Van Boening of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in North Platte Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church."
