Betty “Joyce” Gant, born February 11, 1933 passed away on April 14, 2018 at the age of 85. She retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Sonny, sewing, and listening to country and southern gospel music. She was a long time member of Mims Baptist Church and loved her church family. Preceded in death by her husband; Melvin “Sonny” Gant, parents; Phillip F. and Vicie Huckabay, brothers; Willie and Perry Huckabay, and sister; Jewell Presley, Betty “Joyce” Gant is survived by son; Kevin Sherman and wife Becky, daughter; Karen Pitman and husband David, brother; Lawrence Huckabay and wife Geraldine, and sister; Ruth Tompkins, stepchildren; Kimen Wheeler and husband Doug, Beverly Garland and husband Craig, Linda Pritchard, Michael Gant and wife Margaret, grandchildren; Amanda and Sarah Diehl, Brandon Yates, Jason Sherman and wife Raychel, Nathan Sherman, Brian Sherman and wife Hannah, and Benjamin Sherman, great grandchild; Norah Sherman. Joyce is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service for Betty “Joyce” Gant will be held at the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10:00am with interment at Bold Springs Cemetery, in Livingston, Texas, at 2:00pm.
