Bio

Mr. Murphy was in the freight transfer business in Columbia, using mules and dray wagon in the beginning. He moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1927 and founded the Mt. Pleasant Transfer Company. He was a member of the North Main Street Church of Christ. Survived by his wife; five daughters; two sisters, Hattie Lee and Carrie Mai; one brother, David; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial Rose Hill. ref: obit
