Bio
Guy was born in Anderson Co, TX to Grady Patrick and Allie Mae Parker Bridges. His parents are also buried in Garden of Memories. He enlisted in the Army 11 March 1943 and trained at Miami, FL. He served in Hawaii and the Palau Islands and was awarded the Bronze Star. Guy shares a stone with his first wife, Charlene Marie Gammage Bridges, who he married 25 September 1948. After her death, Guy married Melba Carroll 14 January 1989 in Houston Co, TX. OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Tuesday, 8 February 1994: Services for Guy D. Bridges, 69, of Elkhart, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. J. Mack Endsley and J. C. Searcy officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mr. Bridges died Sunday at a Houston hospital. He was born in Anderson County on Oct. 10, 1924, to Grady Patrick and Allie Mae Parker Bridges. He was a lineman for Ducon Electrical Corp. Mr. Bridges was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elkhart. He served in the Army during World War II. He was survived by his wife, Melba Bridges of Elkhart; daughter, Ronda Garcia of Crosby; sons, Jerry Bridges and Ricky Bridges, both of LaPorte; sisters, Cleola Searcy of Elkhart, Bernice Deal of Grapeland and Johnnie Maude Holton of Lexington; brother, Ben Bridges of Elkhart; and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steven Garcia, Mark Deal, Perry Deal, James Surginer, Rodney Surginer, Darrell Dehart and Herman Parker.
