Bio

Benjamin Leek Bridges was born in Anderson Co, TX to Grady Patrick and Allie Mae Parker Bridges. He enlisted in the Air Corps in February 1942 and trained at Camp Barkley, Grand Island, NE. He served on Okinawa. He shares a stone with his wife, Dorothy. OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Saturday, 5 August 1995: ELKHART—Services for Ben L. Bridges, 76, of Elkhart, will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Don Dodge officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home. Mr. Bridges was born in Elkhart June 29, 1919 to Grady Patrick Bridges and Allie Mae Parker Bridges. He died Friday morning at Trinity Valley Medical Center. Mr. Bridges was a retired maintenance worker and served as a medic with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elkhart and Elkhart Masonic Lodge 400. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy bridges in 1993 and his parents. Mr. Bridges is survived by his daughters, Cherry Salinas, of Spring, and Peggy Super, of Boise, Idaho; sisters, Cleola Searcy of Elkhart, Johnnie Maude Holton of Lexington, Bernice Deal of Grapeland; and three grandchildren. Condolence calls will be received from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home.
