Bio
Wanda Faye Vaughn passed away March 29, 2007, in Lubbock. Services in her honor will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday April 3, 2007, at Highland Baptist Church, with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Wanda Faye Nelson was born July 10, 1925, to the late Lee and Alice (Gregary) Nelson, in Matador. She married Earl E. Vaughn in 1942 in Matador. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1999. Wanda loved life, loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and loved to tell and teach others about His saving grace. At age 45, she earned her LVN license and went on to earn her Registered Nursing degree at age 49. She worked as a private duty nurse for 3 years then worked for the Lubbock City Health Department as a Public Health Nurse for 14 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church for over 45 years and taught Sunday school classes from babies to senior adults. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Glenda and Berdena, and brother, Leroy. Left to cherish Wanda's memory are her four sons, Larry of Farmington, N.M., Greg of McKinney, Rick of Craig, Colo., and Robert Stephen of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Exodus Prison Ministry, 4243 - 34th Street, 79410 and plant able flowers for Wanda's back yard.
