SHAMROCK - Fred Coleman Ferris, 76, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Jes Stafford, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Quail Cemetery in Quail by Wright Funeral Directors. Fred Coleman Ferris was born May 21, 1930, in Grandfield, Okla., to Ben and Nora Thomas Ferris. He married Ethel Pearle Coates on June 12, 1954. They had made their home in Shamrock for the past 51 years. Fred worked in the oil field for Rodney Barker for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Norene; and three brothers, Kenneth Ferris, Junior Ferris and M.B. Ferris. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Ferris; two sons, Steve Ferris and wife Joyce of Shamrock and Gene Ferris and wife Dana of Amarillo; a daughter, Christi Evans and husband Butch of Shamrock; two sisters, Mary Jo Jones and husband Mace of Fritch and Betty Felton and husband Wayne of Amarillo; two brothers, Howard Ferris and wife Velma of Hemet, Calif., and Tex Ferris and wife Candy of Shamrock; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
